Katja volunteered to do Natalie’s hair and make up…she also came up with the scarf.
What I thought would be a half-hour session outside turned into a three hour one which only ended because of the rain and the boys’ inability to listen.
art and photography
Natalie sat for me for two hours on a cold day in a drafty corner.
The poem reads:
‘promises she speaks of
and waits for someone to understand
writing words on pictures
taking pictures of words
that were once sewn together but not now
a smile is natural, uncapturable
patient in the window
waiting
sewn together
promises and rainbows may remain unbroken
in black and brown with red and grey’
